Bio Melissa Hyatt
Melissa is a watercolor artist, surface
pattern designer and textile color consultant living in Eastern Long Island, NY
surrounded by beautiful beaches and lush farmland. She loves living there
because nature is her first inspiration. Daily beach walks, with her golden
retriever April, provide a constant flow of beautiful subject matter to paint
and draw.
She grew up surrounded by painters.
Both of her Grandmothers painted, one with oils and the other pastels. They
inspired Melissa to develop a love of art and color. Watercolor painting is her
passion and part of a daily sketchbook practice. She enjoys mixing paints on
her palette to transform a pencil sketch into magic.
Melissa began her study of Surface
Pattern Design at Syracuse University where she earned a BFA then began her
career in NYC. Through her background in color and design she’s created designs
for Pier One, Waverly Fabrics, Martha Stewart and Vera Bradley. She has
licensed products with Calypso cards and Coldwaterr Creek Direct. You
can view her paintings and Giclee prints at local Galleries and restaurants. Occasionally
you can find Melissa at Pottery Barn and West Elm painting at a “Meet the Artist”
event. She is a Skillshare teacher and facilitator of Watercolor Workshops
across the East Coast.
Blueprint 2019 will mark the Artist’s
third showing at this exciting trade show. See more of her work at http://www.melissahyatt.com and @melissajanehyatt on Instagram.
